Was looking for a replacement to Codebox after it wasn’t updated in 3 years. This app does everything codebox did but with a much better UI.

Great app, works well and looks really nice. I just wish it were a tad bit cheaper, although it does what it’s supposed to do and does it well. One thing I’d like to see improved is the speed at which you can add new snippets. It’d be cool to be able to highlight some text, hit a keyboard shortcut and have a little mini-window pop up with your code and a name field.
When I converting to Swift, I promised to make good on a promise I made myself to work faster and smarter. So many times I work out great soultions or code segment that you wind up opening past project to hunt for and find, copy and paste into new projects. I wanted a central place to keep these great shippets of code as well as easily setup empty structures like Tables, collection views, etc. that i can quickly grab, copy paste and boom, I am off to spending my time coding instead of looking for code in past projects. Developer responded within a day or 2 with an update, cant ask for faster response time than that with an issue I was dealing with. A really great app and the latest update had good improvements. A must have for all devlopers in my opinion. Love this app! -Kevin Creative App Solutions, LLC.
This is the best tool to keep your snippets around, it is very easy to use, clean and reliable. Just what I was looking for… thanks! :)
5 stars for supporting this app. Below are some suggestions. ----------- - Have the snippets assistance always on. So when I CMD-Q the main app, the assistance still lives on in the background.
I really like this app! It’s simple, reliable and makes it easy to save, retreive, organize and review code snippets and fragments in virtually all popular programming languages. I use it to save my Swift, Objective C and JavaScript code.
I love it and just have a few suggestions as one mentioned too. 1. Have the option to set the default language when creating a new snippet. 2. I noticed “/*Code Comment Here*/“ doesn’t comment out the code - It does of course in php, but just not in the code snippetlabs preview, it render with the code look, in hihglighted colors I mean instead of greyed out as a comment. 3. If the app is set to show only on specifc desktop the menu bar option is not available on other desktop screens - I can’t recall if another app bypasses this but if so I would like to access the menubar from any desktop I have while the main window only shows on a specifc desktop screen. 4. One small bug, issue I have is that when accessing the menubar and hovering over a snippet, the preview bubble as shown in the screenshot doesn’t show for me. This is on Mac Late 2013, Yosemite Other than that, I can defintely keep this as my go to! One very nice feature is I can sort by tag view only. This is great because I really don’t like the folder creating view of Mac and the sub folder dropdowns, etc. Switching to tag view allows me to just view my code snippets by tags.
Finally, a place to put all my Swift extensions! Really great for organisation, but I wish you could filter the search in the assistant by Folder.
Its so hard to find way to store code and snippets of scripts. This makes my programming and scripting SO MUCH EASIER! One problem i always have is keeping changes or scripts together and organized let alone easily accessed… 5 Stars all the way! In a way it reminds me of 1password but with code/scripts which is awesome. I cant wait to see how much more feature can be added. The iCloud sync also makes sure i dont lose my work to data loss events. The the author: You rock! Keep it up with things like this! Things i would like to see: 1) More themes. 2) More language support like visual basic 6. 3) Store project files and modules.. maybe revision type control. 4) integration or connect to Sublime Text.
Really love it for organizing all my self guides but its missing way to add images. If had way to add an image into it, with a preview that was resizeable but keeping original; then it would be perfect for me. Still great tool and will keep using it but currently have to upload images to online album with pasting link. Would prefer to keep everything in one place. Thanks for the hard work and great tool!!! :)
Good idea, but poor implimentation and testing. This product does not properly work with iCloud. If you have two computers and set the cloud sync to work with iCloud, the two products will not sync. Each will create it’s own library and you cannot create a iCloud library that will allow all your computers to use the same library. In effect, the iCloud sync is useless.
This has been a great app to keep track of code snippets. I like that you can assign tags and keep a note at the top of the code. The fragment feature is awesome! It would be very useful have an option to set a default languate when you create a new snippet. It’s annoying to have to change it every time from Plain Text to the language you want. I think most people work in one language most of the time, so this would be useful. Another thing is that Folders and Categories should be called one thing. This was hard to grasp when I started using the app. I could not figure out how to create a new category or manage categories in any way. I finally figured out that it’s the same thing as folders. Please just call this one thing (either Folders OR Categories) to eliminate confusion. It would also be nice to have more indentation control. For example, being able to highlight a few lines of text and hit Tab to indent those lines. Or vice versa (like Shift +Tab) to un-indent them. I will continue to use this program, but if the above things were addressed, it would make this all the more useful!
since knowing it 2 month ago i use it all the time. there are constant updates and enhancements - well done
After years of coding and saving snippets to text files here and there and really no central organization, SnippetsLab adds a beautfully simple and effective code management tool for creating reference points, snippets, and overal cheat sheets for code used on a regular basis.
SnippetsLab is promising and may end up being the best snippet manager on the market. Right now though, Ive stopped using it because the interface feels so cramped. The line height in the code section is extremely tight and the notes section is so small that its basically unusable. Typing code is also an issue because it lacks basic features like adding a closing bracket when you type an open bracket, and aligning/indenting a new line when you hit enter. The developers are doing a pretty good job of adding new features though, so hopefully the UI issues will be worked out.
Evernote for Code Snippets
This app was working fine until today, but it suddenly stopped launching.
The app is not opening at all. Not sure what exactly happened but it’s making me lose alot of time.
This app is excellent….but it stopped opening!
I bought this app a while ago and found it incredibly useful, but all of a sudden it just started crashing everytime I open it, with no error or anything. Based on other reviews for the previous version I know that I am not the only customer experiencing these crashes, and I was very frustrated to find that this still has not been fixed with the latest update! Please fix this becuase right now this app does nothing but annoy me and take up space.
