Best Stand-alone Snippets App

While I would typically lean to using something like Dash’s snippet due to its ability to integrate with Alfred Workflows, I have found myself using SnippetsLab for almost a year now. Its ability to run in the background reduces clutter and can be quickly called up with Alfred or Spotlight. Alternatively, can quickly access all your snippets through its menu bar icon. Other features that keep me using it are the nice themes and supports syntax formatting and highlighting for a huge list of languages. Lastly, the new markdown viewer is great and allows for complete cutomization of styling. Nice job guys! Oh, and it has never crashed on me, that I can recall.

It doesn’t work!

I save a lot of code on this app, and now I can’t open it! I hammers on my head! Angryyyyyyy

An excellent tool for snippet management that developers and administrators can use

UPDATE2: This continues to be a very helpful tool in my development kit. Thanks to a very wide array of supported languages (colors are pretty) the types of snippets I am keeping has expanded. I took a chance buying V1 when it was first released and continue to be very happy with what I have. Each and every release since I first purchased it has been gold. The development team seems to have a good roadmap for features including an appropriate delivery order. This release provides several features and refinements that arrive right in time for me as my organization and refinement of snippets grows and matures. Overall, this is a excellent tool for a full end-to-end management of “snippets” which for me can be chunks of code and even configuration. For example, I have created a Snippet for proper configuration and setup of a GIT Server. The tool lets you have one or many tabs within a snippet so I can have separate chunks of code or in this case, configuration. Each tab can have a note describing what is in the tab. By the time you are done (which goes very quickly) you have something that reads like a quick start guide. All code is presented in a beautiful way with color highlighting and readable fonts. Since purchaing this app earlier this year I have been refining my organization in more meaningful ways and use my database of knowledge regularly. I am also discovering that this has more uses then just code and config snippets. I think students can use this for notes and quick facts. This is only possible because it is a well thought out tool that has become a part of my 5 core tools I use daily. The features you get for the low cost makes this an easy choice for any kind of quick access information. And due to the regular releases from the development team, I can only imagine the useful and powerful thing to come.

Great Integration with Alfred

The newest update brings useful integrations with Alfred. I use Alfred daily, so this integration makes it so much easier to search and copy snippets to my clipboard. I didn’t use the app as often before since I kept on forgetting shortcut to bring up the SnippetsLab search but with Alfred it’s much easier. Thank you!
